The Hollywood Beach Latin Festival, Inc. (HBLF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of Hispanic culture. Its theme is "Health and Environmental Awareness." The HBLF provides a variety of assistance to local organizations in our community. In effort to help the youth of Broward County, the HBLF awards scholarships to the Broward Community College. The HBLF also assists organizations with programs and toys for disadvantaged children such as the Boys and Girls Club, Hispanic Unity and YMCA. Additionally in 2005 the Hollywood Beach Latin Festival embarked a new mission with the help of local housing agencies to provide assistance to single mothers who are striving to purchase a home.
There are approximately 270,000 Hispanics in Broward County representing the fastest growing population in South Florida. Over 40, 0000 people attended the Latin Festival last year. This successful event has contributed to the increase of tourism along Hollywood Beach. The hotels on the beach, which were historically not booked during this time of the year, are typically sold out during the weekend of the Latin Festival, mostly by Hispanics.
